Our Advocacy Program

Originally created as an advocacy group for Canada's consulting engineering sector, today ACEC is the recognized national voice for the industry. Our goal is to build a better business and regulatory climate for our members to work in. To accomplish this, we work with elected officials and government departments to influence decisions on key issues that affect the industry.

The ACEC team in Ottawa has nearly thirty years of experience in government relations. Our efforts were recognized in 2008, when we received a national award from the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) for our government-relations campaign on the InfraGuide Best Practices document.

Here are some of ACEC's recent initiatives and projects, undertaken to raise our profile and enhance our ability to support our members. These include:

ACEC Submission to the Standing Committee on Finance
ACEC Supports Regional Roundtables for Development of Long-Term Infrastructure Plan
Meeting with Prime Minister
Advocacy Year in Review
Advocacy Win on Long-Term Infrastructure
ACEC Hill Day - Video Summary
Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
International Trade Negotiations
